About
Hi! My name is Kathryn and I write this blog and take all the pictures. First and foremost, thank you for checking out my blog and I hope you will return in the near future, and that you’ll maybe even try some of the recipes!
I live in Northern Virginia with my husband, Nate, and I work in Washington DC on a project that deals with the control of malaria and other vector-borne diseases. I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Moldova ’05 – ’07) and I’m biding my time in DC until I have the opportunity to go overseas again. I like to garden (fruits and veggies, not so much flowers), read, watch television on my computer, plan out future vacations, and dote on our adorable adopted pitbull mix, Athena.
You can email me at just.eat.it.09@gmail.com or you can leave me a comment (which would seriously make my day. I mean it!). So, folks, you can sit back, enjoy the photographs and read all about my forays in a teeny tiny place that I like to call my kitchen.
Oh, and here’s a recent photo of Athena because it’s too cute to not share!

Hi Katie,
Love the blog. I also love to cook, eat and take pictures, but sadly I am not as motivated as you to do all 3 at once. Look forward to reading more and trying your recipes.
Jenn (Nate’s big Sis)
Hi Katie,
You dont know me, but I work with Nate! I read your blog, and I think your blog is so cute! Hope to see you both at the wedding!
Melissa R.
Thanks, Melissa! We are both really looking forward to your wedding– I think Nate sent the RSVP the other day. And thanks for checking out my blog!
Having eaten these very brownies, Kathryn, I KNOW how GOOD they are! The touches of cinnamon and cayenne put your brownies in a class by themselves. Thanks for the recipe, the photos and your completely fun and entertaining blog! And, oh yes, I vote for the cheesecake-y brownies next. lol, mj
Thanks, Madeline! Those really were quite the brownies. I’ll be sure to add your vote to the final tally
I’m glad you enjoyed the recipes and pictures, and thanks for checking out my blog!
Katie, if you need a regular tripod, I have an extra one up here I can bring back. However, I’m not sure that is what you really need. For closeups we always used a Copy Stand.
Anyway, if you want the tripod, try to let me know sometime today (9/28).
As usual, everything looks yummy!
Nate’s Dad
Hi Rob,
If you have an extra tripod that I could use for the time being, that would be great. I’m not entirely sure exactly what I need either, so I think I might experiment a little. I’ve been looking into constructing something similar to a copy stand, but we’ll see how that turns out. Thanks for offering to let me use your tripod, and have a safe trip back! And thanks for checking out my blog too
Your photos of the food you cook are really good. Food photography isn’t easy. Maybe it’s the plates. Seriously, you are a good cook, photographer and writer. It’s a fun blog– MOM
I’m definitely enjoying your blog. I’ve bookmarked it for future reference. Now to go to the kitchen to cook and bake your recipes!
I found your blog through a google search for a Cook’s Illustrated recipe and I love it. Fun recipes and great photos. Bookmarked it so I can come back!
Thanks! You’ll find many Cook’s Illustrated and Baking Illustrated recipes here– sometimes it’s nice to know you’re cooking something that’s practically guaranteed to turn out well
Hello! I’m glad I happened to stumble upon your blog! Can’t wait to try some of your recipes!!
